Dorset Food Week 2009

Chalk and Cheese is a small independent organisation full of people that are passionate about developing, enhancing and celebrating the diverse cultural assets of the local area. We work with local people, landscapes and the immense wealth of local food & craft products and producers to cultivate opportunities for improving the quality of rural life.
We've delivered the Leader+ funding programme, run a range of local and international projects & activities, and taken on the role of county wide co-ordination of the local products sector from Dorset Food Links.
The future is obviously desperately exciting - local food in every outlet in the county, Dorset culture celebrated as it should be, local people proud of their county and everyone unfortunate enough to live outside it understanding the food, farming, landscape and culture which is ours. Enough to keep us busy for a while.

Our purpose, to improve the lives of people living, working or visiting our beautiful county. If you, your community or your business have an idea, project or initiative that will benefit Dorset but need help in making it a reality then D2 can help! We support a wide variety of projects no matter how large or small throughout their development - from concept and planning right through to delivery.
As a result, D2 and its partners have been able to deliver real improvements to Dorset’s economic, environmental, social and cultural landscape. D2 would now like to ask you to join in this success story by inviting you to submit your own ideas and projects for consideration.

Dorset County Council supports Dorset food week and many other Local Programmes, taking an active role on steering groups, providing advice, and providing funding.  DCC likes to take an active role in promoting the unique attractions of Dorset, the Heritage Coast, our beautiful environment and our rich local produce.

The Eat Dorset Food Fair will be held on the 17th and 18th October in the grounds of Parnham House.
The Food Fair is now in its fifth year and continues to grow from strength to strength. Last year more than 5,000 people attended over two days. The Fair continues to develop and we are delighted to welcome several new stallholders to the large number of diverse producers who represent the wonderful variety of foods made in Dorset and the surrounding counties.

In addition to the incredible range of delicious produce, wonderful food to sample and dedicated and knowledgeable producers, there will be a major focus on growing your own food. This will include a variety of seasonal vegetables growing in raised beds, experts to answer queries and talks focusing on kitchen gardens ranging from herbs to planting fruit trees.
