Sydling Brook Organic
Our organic farm is set at the head of the beautiful Sydling valley in Dorset and covers a number of valleys of rare chalk downland.
We believe in ‘traditional, mixed farming’, farming based on rotations of crops and livestock to naturally build soil fertility, improve soil structure and to control pests and disease. Our traditional breeds of animals are treated with the highest respect, we believe happy animals grazing on home grown fodder, maturing slowly, produce wonderful meat.
We grow old varieties of crops such as spelt and rye, with a high emphasis placed on conservation and encouraging biodiversity. We only sell meat that has been reared and butchered on our farm, giving complete confidence in its provenance, traceability and quality.
Our farm shop sells our wide range of fresh, cured and smoked organic meats, as well as our own eggs and honey. We are also lucky to stock a range of seasonal produce from our tenants and partners, Woolsery Cheese (award-winning goats cheeses), and Green and Pleasant (organic vegetables and fruit).
All the meat sold in our shop is from traditional British breeds of organic animals reared and finished on our farm. Our game is wild. We have our own experienced butchers who do all our own curing, smoking and sausage making.
We recommend putting together your own a la carte order from the price list detailed on each product page. This will take 1 to 2 weeks for delivery.
Alternatively you can order a meat box as they are designed to give a good range of cuts, to be good value, and to be delivered within 1 week.

Poundbury Farmers’ Market
“The County town of Dorchester, as its name indicates, was a Roman city. Some of its approaches are on the original Roman ways and lined with avenues of trees; further avenues beautify the celebrated Walks which mark the sites of the former Roman town walls.
There are many impressive old buildings still surviving, including Judge Jeffreys’ Lodgings, the Shire Hall containing the Court Room in which the ‘Tolpuddle Martyrs’ stood trial and Max Gate, Thomas Hardy’s home and Came Rectory where William Barnes last lived.
Poundbury Village has been newly built, overlooking the famous Iron Age hill town of Maiden Castle, on the western edge of the town on Duchy land and boasts some impressive architecture – building is still on-going in places and the whole concept and development has received much media attention and accolades.
The regular Farmers’ Market is the largest organised by Dorset Farmers’ Markets Ltd. with nearly 40 producers regularly attending; it was also voted ‘Best Farmers’ Market in Dorset’ in the 2007 Dorset Food and Drink Awards
